Commission Awards More Amendment 3 Projects
ST LOUIS -- The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission (MHTC) awarded the second round of Amendment 3 projects at its March 9 meeting. More than $4 million in Amendment 3 projects was awarded, which is part of MoDOT’s "Smoother, Safer, Sooner" initiative. The projects include:

  • Rte. 180 (St. Charles Rock Rd.) from San Carlos Ave. to Ferguson Rd. and on I-70 from Broadway to I-64 – Resurface. Awarded to N.B. West Contracting Company (Brentwood) for $1.6 million.

  • Rte. 100 from 39th St. to Tucker and Broadway to I-55 (2 disconnected sections) and Rte. 100 from Rte. 61/67 (Lindbergh) to Big Bend – Resurface. Awarded to Pace Construction Company (St. Louis) for $3 million.
More details on MoDOT's Smoother, Safer, Sooner program, including project lists, a statewide project map and additional Amendment 3 details, are available on MoDOT’s web site at www.modot.org. Construction on these projects is expected to begin this spring, and completion is anticipated for late 2005.

Other non-Amendment 3 projects awarded by the MHTC on March 9 includes:

  • I-70 (westbound) ramp south of Salisbury St. in St. Louis City - Grading, drainage and ramp replacement. Awarded to Gaines Construction, Inc. (Wentzville) for $287,000. The project is expected to begin this spring and should be complete by this summer.

  • Rte. FF from south of the intersection at Rte. 30 (east of St. Clair) - Grading, replace bridge and paving. Awarded to HBI Construction (Fenton) for $1.6 million. The project is expected to begin this spring and should be complete by fall 2005.

  • I-70 from the St. Louis City limits west of Goodfellow to Cole St. - Mowing along the right-of-way. Awarded to Munie Outdoor Services, Inc. (Caseyville, IL) for $85,000.

  • Rte. T east of Rte. MM and from west of the intersection of Rte. 100 – Replace the bridges over Fiddle Creek and Tavern Creek. This project also includes pipe replacements at various locations along Rte. T, Rte. V, and Rte. H in Franklin County. Awarded to Goodwin Brothers Construction Company (Crystal City) for $3.6 million. The project is expected to begin this spring and should be complete by late 2005.
