Commission Awards Projects At Jan. 11 Meeting
ST LOUIS -- The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission (MHTC) awarded several local projects at its January 11 meeting. Approximately $34 million was awarded to contractors for various roadway improvement projects. All contracts were awarded to the lowest bidder. The projects include:
  • I-44 St. Clair Rest Area – Rehabilitate and upgrade westbound rest area. Awarded to Emery Sapp and Sons, Inc. (Columbia, MO) for $2.6 million. This project is expected to begin in spring 2006 and should be complete in fall 2006.


  • I-70 at Rte. 94 – Construct a single-point diamond interchange with a two-lane left turn lane from eastbound and westbound I-70 to Rte. 94. The interchange will also include a two-lane left turn lane from northbound and southbound Rte. 94 to I-70. The ramp from eastbound I-70 to Rte. 94 and the ramp from Rte. 94 to westbound I-70 will be widened. Awarded to Fred Weber, Inc. (Maryland Heights, MO) for $18.2 million. This project is expected to begin in spring 2006 and should be complete in late 2007.

  • Rte. B south of Rte. 30 over Skullbones Creek – Replace bridge. Awarded to Pace Construction Company (St. Louis, MO) for $2 million. This project is expected to begin in spring 2006 and should be complete in late 2006.

  • Rte. A at Rte. 61 near Wentzville – Widen bridge. Awarded to Gaines Construction, Inc. (Wentzville, MO) for $5.2 million. This project is expected to begin in spring 2006 and should be complete in fall 2007.

  • I-64/Rte. 40 from Rte. 340 to Rte. 141 – Seal bridge surfaces. This project is expected to begin in spring 2006 and should be complete in fall 2006. Awarded to X-L Contracting, Inc. (Hazelwood, MO) for $355,937.77.

  • I-44 from the Crawford County line to west of Pacific – Repair pavement and resurface. Awarded to Knish Corporation (Lonsdale, MN) for $2.2 million. This project is expected to begin in spring 2006 and should be complete in late 2006. Amendment 3 Project

  • Various locations in the St. Louis Metro Area (I-270/255, I-64, I-170 and I-55) – Repair guardrail and guard cable. Awarded to Collins and Hermann, Inc. (St. Louis, MO) for $1.2 million. This project is expected to begin in spring 2006 and should be complete in late 2006. Amendment 3 Project
