Christian County

Construction Projects -

Route 65 Diamond-Grinding/Resurfacing Project: Springfield/Ozark areas (Greene/Christian Counties)

  • Grinding off old asphalt and laying new asphalt on southbound shoulders

 Traffic Impacts:

  • One southbound lane closed at NIGHT.  Work hours: 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday-Thursday.

Project Background:

  • Resurface shoulders between the Lake Springfield bridge and a point north of Christian County Route EE at Ozark
  • Diamond-grind the southbound lanes
  • Resurface the northbound lanes
  • Project completion: July 2010.

Roadway Maintenance -

  • Ozark Area:  NIGHT WORK – Pavement repairs in one northbound lane between Route 14 and Christian County Route CC/J.  Work hours 7 p.m. to 6 am. Sunday – Thursday.
  • Nixa Area:  Repair guard cable on Route 160 at the Finley River Bridge
  • Elkhead Area:  Replace drain pipe on Route Z.
  • Watch for lane closings and slow-moving work vehicles.  Obey flaggers.

Dallas County

Construction Projects -

Route 65 Widening and Relocation: Dallas County Route EE near Foose to Truman Road in Buffalo (Dallas County)

  • Grading along the new highway lanes

Traffic Impacts:

  • Trucks may cross side roads
  • Route 65 traffic shifted to temporary bypass south of Truman Road in Buffalo
  • Bypass speed limit: 40 mph

Project Information:

  • Widen Route 65 to four lanes and relocating it to the west of the existing road between Dallas County Route EE and Truman Road in Buffalo.
  • Build new intersections at Neill Road, Kelly Road, Golf Course Road and Barnes Lane.
  • Project completion: July 2010. 

Roadway Maintenance -

  • Conway area:  Install a box culvert on Route B at Jones Creek.  Road closed until new culvert is installed
  • Buffalo area:  Sweep and clean bridges
  • Louisburg area:  Replace drain pipe near Polk County line.  Road closed on Wednesday to do the work.
  • Watch for lane closings and a slow-moving work vehicles.  Obey flaggers.

Douglas County

Roadway Maintenance -

  • Squires Area: Repair roadway edges along Routes 5 and 95
  • Ava Area:  Replace drainage culverts on Routes 14 and T, patch potholes and repair roadway edges on various routes
  • Drury Area:  Seal cracks on Route W
  • Watch for lane closings and slow-moving work vehicles.  Obey flaggers.

Greene County

Construction Projects -

Route 60/65 Interchange Reconstruction:  Springfield (Greene County)

  • Installing bridge girders for the eastbound Route 60-to-northbound Route 65 “flyover” ramp
  • Building bridge deck forms on northbound U.S. 65-to-westbound U.S. 60 "flyover" ramp
  • Grading dirt in the Route 65 median south of Route 60
  • Grading rock and dirt to build bridges on either side of U.S. 60 near the railroad tracks
  • Building a bridge column in the Route 60 median just east of Route 65
  • Building retaining walls in various locations
  • Other bridge work in various locations
  • Moving equipment at night

 Traffic Impacts:

  • Nighttime ramp and lane closings possible for bridge work
  • Other nighttime ramp and lane closings possible during week
  • Traffic shifted and driving lanes narrowed on Route 65 and Route 60
  • Work zone speed limit: 60 mph

Trail Impacts:

  • James River Greenway Trail is closed south of Route 60 to Brunswick Avenue on the east side of Route 65.  The trail will be closed indefinitely to allow crews to build the new flyover ramps and         complete other bridge work on Route 60 east of Route 65.  
  • Galloway Creek Greenway trail is CLOSED at Route 60 near the railroad tracks. Trail access at that point will be closed indefinitely.

 

Project Background:

  • Build directional, "flyover" ramps to eliminate a tight conflict point on the existing northbound                    Route 65 bridge over Route 60
  • Build new bridges over the railroad tracks on Route 60
  • Replace the northbound Route 65 bridge over Route 60 and the westbound Route 60 bridge over Lake Springfield
  • Widen the eastbound Route 60 bridge over Lake Springfield
  • Rehabilitate the southbound Route 65 bridge over Route 60
  • Install new highway lighting.
  • Project completion: October 2012.      

Route 65 Six-Laning Project:  Springfield (Greene County)

  • Building bridge footings and columns in the Route 65 median to widen the railroad bridges south of Chestnut Expressway
  • Installing drain pipes in median just south of Sunshine Street
  • Blasting in the median between Sunshine Street and Catalpa Street
  • Pouring concrete for a retaining wall in median north of Route 60

 Traffic Impacts:

  • Traffic shifted to the right both northbound and southbound at railroad bridges between Sunshine Street and Chestnut Expressway
  • Nighttime lane closings on Route 65 where crews are working. Work hours: 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday
  • Route 65 traffic slowed and possibly stopped for up to 10 minutes for blasting.  Work hours: 10 to 11 p.m. and 1 to 3 a.m.
  • Speed limit in work zones: 50 mph when crews present and when hazards exist in median

Project Background:

  • Widen Route 65 to six lanes, with lanes added in median
  • Rebuild and widen railroad bridges between Sunshine Street and Chestnut Expressway
  • Rehabilitate and widen railroad bridges between Division and Kearney streets
  • Widen bridges at Chestnut Expressway and Catalpa Street
  • Project completion: October 2011.

National Avenue/James River Freeway Interchange Reconstruction:  Springfield (Greene County)

  • Building concrete forms on the bridge deck for the widening of the National Avenue bridge over Route 60 and grading dirt at the bridge approaches
  • Building underpass underneath National Avenue just north of James River Freeway
  • Grading along eastbound Route 60 off-ramp
  • Installing road signs along westbound Route 60
  • Installing drain pipes and manhole covers along southbound National Avenue south of the Route 60
  • Building a retaining wall along Bradford Parkway on the east side of National Avenue

 

Traffic Impacts:

  • Short-term traffic stops on the ramps to allow equipment to enter and leave work areas
  • National Avenue traffic is shifted to the east just north of Bradford Parkway south of Primrose Street
  • National Avenue speed limit through work zone: 30 mph
  • Drivers urged to find alternate routes. 
  • Traffic delays taking place during morning and evening rush hours because National Avenue is narrowed
  • All pedestrian traffic through the work zone must use the sidewalk on the east side of National Avenue between Primrose Street and Republic Road

Project Background:

  • Convert interchange into a “Diverging Diamond” where traffic criss-crosses at the ends of the bridge. Drivers traveling on National Avenue can make “free” left turns onto James River Freeway
  • Widen National Avenue bridge to three lanes in each direction
  • Build connecting ramps along Route 60 between Campbell Avenue and National Avenue ramps
  • Build new underpass underneath National Avenue north of James River Freeway
  • Partnership project between MoDOT, the city of Springfield and CoxHealth Systems
  • Project completion: August 2010

I-44/Glenstone Avenue Interchange Reconstruction and Route H Widening:  Springfield (Greene County)

  • Applying pavement stripes on Glenstone Avenue at I-44
  • Spreading grass seed and mulch in various locations
  • Laying asphalt for shoulders along the eastbound off ramp and in other locations along Route H
  • Doing general clean-up work around the project

Traffic Impacts:

  • All ramps open at the interchange
  • If pavement striping is completed, all lanes on Glenstone Avenue should be open to traffic

 Project Information:

  • Replace Glenstone Avenue bridges over I-44
  • Replace cloverleaf ramps with a standard diamond interchange
  • Install new traffic signals on Glenstone at the ramps
  • Widen Route H between I-44 and Valley Water Mill Road
  • Project nearing completion

Route UU Clear Creek Bridge Rehabilitation: Bois D’Arc area (Greene County)

  • Removing bridge walls and bridge deck

 Traffic Impacts:

  • Bridge CLOSED to traffic into mid-May
  • Drivers urged to find an alternate route around the closing

 Project Information:

  • Removing bridge deck
  • Repairing girders
  • Installing new bridge deck
  • Project completion: Mid-May 2010

Roadway Maintenance -

  • Springfield Area:  Patch pavement on I-44, repair ramp shoulders on eastbound I-44 to southbound Route 65, patch potholes on West Bypass (Route 160) at Kearney Street (Route 744), pavement repairs on Norton Road and grind stumps on various routes
  • Republic Area:  Spraying herbicides to control weeds along Routes 60, 160 and 174 at night.  Cut brush along Routes 266 and UU
  • Walnut Grove Area:  Patch potholes, repair approaches and cut brush on various routes
  • Watch for lane closings and slow-moving work vehicles.  Obey flaggers.

Hickory County

Roadway Maintenance -

  • Preston/Wheatland area:  Patch potholes and cut brush along various routes
  • Watch for lane closings and slow-moving work vehicles.  Obey flaggers.

Laclede County

Construction Projects -

Route 5 Widening:  Route 64 to Greenfield Road in Lebanon (Laclede County)

  • Grading work along northbound Route 5 between Route YY and Greenfield Road
  • Tearing out curb and gutter along the northbound lanes between Route YY and Greenfield Road
  • Installing new curb and gutter along the northbound lanes between Route YY and Greenfield Road

Traffic Impacts:

  • One northbound lane closed

Project Information:

  • Widen Route 5 to five lanes, two through lanes in each direction with a continuous center turn lane
  • Add a second left-turn lane for southbound Route 5 traffic at intersection of Route 5/Jefferson Avenue/Route 64/Seventh Street
  • Resurface the intersection of Route 5 and Route 64 to eliminate rutted pavement
  • Modify traffic signals on Route 5 at Route 64 and at Brice Street
  • Build new sidewalks and modify storm drains in areas.

Project completion: November 2010.

Route A/C over I-44 Bridge Rehabilitation: Phillipsburg (Laclede County)

  • Painting bridge girders
  • Installing forms for the future bridge deck

 Traffic Impacts:

  • One lane of I-44 closed underneath the bridge at night.  Work hours: 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Route A/C CLOSED over I-44
  • Ramps remain open at the interchange

 Project Information:

  • Replacing bridge deck
  • Repairing bridge girders
  • Installing new bridge deck and bridge walls
  • Project completion: Mid-May 2010.

Roadway Maintenance -

  • Phillipsburg/Lebanon area:  Patch I-44 between Mile Markers 113-145
  • Nebo area:  Clean bridges on Route 32
  • Dove area:  Patch Route E
  • Watch for lane closings and slow-moving work vehicles.  Obey flaggers.

Ozark County

Roadway Maintenance -

  • Wasola Area:  Repair roadway edges along Route 95
  • Dora Area:  Sweeping various routes
  • Watch for lane closings and slow-moving work vehicles.  Obey flaggers.

Polk County

Construction Projects -

Route 13 Northbound Lane Relocation: South of Bolivar (Polk County)

  • Building connection from existing Route 13 to the new northbound lanes at the south end of the project
  • Grading dirt and building a connection to an outer road on the north end of the project
  • Hauling rock and dirt to various locations on the north end of the project

Traffic Impacts:

  • One northbound lane closed at the south end of the project just north of the Greene-Polk county line
  • The crossover at 565th Road is closed.
  • Heavy equipment entering and leaving work areas with traffic

Project Information:

  • Relocate the northbound lanes of Route 13 alongside the existing southbound lanes

between the Greene/Polk county line and 490th Road in Polk County

  • Project completion: June 2010.

Roadway Maintenance -

  • Bolivar area:  Patch Route 13
  • Pleasant Hope area:  Replace drain pipes underneath Route 215.  Road CLOSED where crews are working.  Work hours:  7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday
  • Watch for lane closings and slow-moving work vehicles.  Obey flaggers.

Stone County

Roadway Maintenance -

  • Reeds Spring/Lampe Area:  Clean bridges on Routes 13 and 86
  • Watch for lane closings and slow-moving work vehicles.  Obey flaggers.

Taney County

Construction Projects -

Lake Taneycomo Bridge Project: Route 76/Bus. 65, Branson/Hollister (Taney County)

  • Blasting rock on the bluff east of the Lake Taneycomo bridge
  • Hauling rock and dirt from the blasting area across Route 76 to the east shore of Lake Taneycomo
  • Barges and tug boats working in Lake Taneycomo building bridge footings and columns

 Traffic Impacts:

  • Traffic stops up to 10 minutes one time each day on Route 76/Bus. 65 during blasting operations east of the Lake Taneycomo bridge.  Work hours: 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.; 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Thursday.
  • One-lane traffic and nighttime traffic stops to let equipment enter and leave areas east of the Lake Taneycomo bridge on Route 76/Bus. 65.  Work hours: 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Work zone speed limit 25 mph

Project Information:

  • Build a new Lake Taneycomo bridge, connecting Branson and Hollister
  • Rehabilitate the existing Lake Taneycomo bridge
  • Build an oval “round-about” on the east side of Lake Taneycomo connecting the two    bridges with Route 76/Business 65
  • Project completion: December 2011.

  • Kissee Mills Area:  Cut brush along Route 160
  • Watch for lane closings and slow-moving work vehicles.  Obey flaggers.

Webster County

Roadway Maintenance -

  • Marshfield Area:  Patch I-44 between Mile Markers 90-113, spray herbicides along
  • I-44 shoulders, replace drain pipe on Route A, patch potholes on various routes
  • Fordland/Seymour area:  Repair pavement on Route 60 and spray herbicides to control weeds along various routes
  • Watch for lane closings and slow-moving work vehicles.  Obey flaggers.

Wright County

Roadway Maintenance -

  • Norwood area:  Saw concrete joints to prepare for pavement repairs on the Route 60 south outer road
  • Mountain Grove/Hartville/Manes area:  Spray herbicides to control weeds along various routes
  • Hartville/Manes area:  Clean out ditches on Route 38 and repair approaches on various routes
  • Watch for lane closings and slow-moving work vehicles.  Obey flaggers.
