Bridge Work/Guardrail Installation Planned
On Route 76/Business 65 in Branson/Hollister Areas

Branson/Hollister, Taney County – Drivers can expect one-lane traffic ‘round the clock at bridges on Route 76 and Business 65 in the Branson and Hollister areas starting the week of July 10, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Temporary traffic signals will regulate one-lane traffic across bridges as work begins on installing new guardrail at the Coon Creek, Turkey Creek and Missouri & Northern Arkansas Railroad bridges.  All three bridges are located east of Lake Taneycomo either in Branson or Hollister.  The work will take place at one bridge at a time.

Here’s a look at the schedule:

  • Starting week of July 10 – One-lane traffic over the Coon Creek bridge located on Route 76 between Lake Taneycomo and Lakeshore Drive in Branson.
  • Starting week of July 17 – One-lane traffic over the Turkey Creek bridge located on Business 65 south of Taney County Route BB in Hollister.
  • Starting late in the week of July 17 or the week of July 24 – One-lane traffic over the MNA railroad bridge on Business 65 in Hollister.

Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.

During the work, temporary traffic signals will be installed on either end of the bridge where the work is taking place. Due to the nature of the operation, it will be necessary to leave the temporary signals in place ‘round the clock.

Contractor crews will modify the bridge walls on the ends of each bridge so that new guardrail can be installed.

The work is part of a larger project to resurface Route 76 between Route 160 east of Forsyth and Route 65 in Branson, resurface Business 65 through Hollister and resurface Route 248 in Branson.

Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. of Columbia is doing the work for a low bid amount of $2.9 million.

The work is scheduled to be completed by November 1, 2017.  However, contractor crews expect to have the project completed by early September, barring any weather or construction delays.
