When: After 8 p.m. Thursday, October 27

Why: Southbound Route 65 traffic shifted to new median bridge to allow contractor crews to begin rehabilitation of existing southbound bridge

Traffic Impacts:

  • Eastbound Route 60-to-southbound Route 65 ramp CLOSED during traffic switch. Work hours: 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Thursday into Friday, Oct. 27-28.
  • One southbound lane of Route 65 closed at times during the traffic switch
  • Southbound lanes narrowed and shifted toward the east into the Route 65 median
  • After traffic switch, both southbound lanes of Route 65 will be traveling over the new median bridge
  • TRAFFIC CONGESTION continues to be an issue during heavier travel times
    • Expect backups on eastbound Route 60 from National Avenue to Route 65
    • Backups also expected on southbound Route 65 between Battlefield Road and Route 60

(Weather or construction delays could alter the work schedule.)

Project Summary:

  • Widen Route 65 to six lanes — three lanes in each direction — between Route 60 and a point south of Evans Road to continue the progress to six lane Route 65 toward Ozark
  • Widen and rehabilitate southbound Route 65 bridge over Lake Springfield to accommodate new lanes and to lengthen eastbound Route 60-to-southbound Route 65 ramp
  • Replace northbound Route 65 bridge over Lake Springfield with new, wider span to replace old bridge in constant need of repair
  • Extend northbound Route 65 ramps to Route 60

Prime Contractor: Emery Sapp and Sons, Columbia
