Route 160-13 at Route 14 Intersection Widening in Nixa
Update for Week of September 26, 2016
  • Village Center Street on south side of Route 14 scheduled to CLOSE on Tuesday, Sept. 27
  • Crews and equipment close to traffic at intersection of Route 160-13 and Route 14 

Work Scheduled:  

  • Rebuilding Village Center Street approach on the south side of Route 14
  • Rebuilding part of the street approach from Fort Street to Route 14
  • Installing traffic signal bases and electrical wiring in new right-turn islands at intersection of Route 14 and Route 160-13
  • Pouring concrete for sidewalks along Route 14 west of Route 160-13
  • Installing storm drains and grading dirt and rock in areas along Route 14 east of Route 160-13
  • Building medians along Route 160-13 north and south of Route 14 

Traffic Impacts:  

  • STREET CLOSING: Village Center Street on the south side of Route 14 scheduled to CLOSE on Tuesday, Sept. 27.  The street will reopen by Monday, Oct. 3. During the closing, drivers will have to find alternate routes.
  • McCrosky Street on the north side of Route 14 scheduled to open by Monday, Sept. 26
  • Narrowed driving lanes on Fort Street approaching Route 14
  • NIGHT WORK: One-lane traffic on Route 14 east of Route 160-13 with flaggers directing drivers through the work zone at times. Work hours: 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Business/street entrance pavement and sidewalks may be removed and replaced with gravel. Please use caution when traveling over gravel entrances and watch for gravel where sidewalks have been removed. 
  • Business entrances may be closed one-half at a time or one entrance may be completely closed if more than one entrance exists for a business.  Access will remain OPEN to all businesses.
  • All other work taking place AWAY from traffic during daytime hours 

(Weather or construction delays could alter the work schedule.) 

Project Summary:

  • Add dual left-turn lanes in each direction
  • Widen Route 14 to four lanes with a center turn lane between Fort Avenue and Estes Street
  • Convert West Street to right in/right out only at Route 14
  • Replace traffic signals at intersection of Route 160-13 and Route 14
  • Build new city street between West Street and Route 160-13 south of Route 14
  • Build new sidewalks
  • Install storm water drain pipes

Prime Contractor: Hartman and Company, Springfield

Completion Date: Fall 2016

Total Project Cost: $2.76 million.
