Route 160-13 at Route 14 Intersection Widening in Nixa
Update for Week of September 5, 2016
  • No traffic impacts over Labor Day holiday weekend
  • Nighttime lane closings on Route 14 west of Route 160-13 for paving 

Work Scheduled:  

  • Paving to widen Route 14 west of Route 160-13 at night throughout the week
  • Paving areas at the intersection of Routes 160-13 and Route 14 at night
  • Paving the new city street south of Route 14 between Route 160-13 and West Street
  • Grading work and installing storm drain structures along Route 14 east of Route 160-13 

Traffic Impacts:  

  • NIGHT WORK for paving operations along Route 14 west of Route 160-13:
    • One-lane traffic on Route 14 with flaggers directing drivers through the work zone
    • Lane closings on Route 160-13 at Route 14
    • Street entrances and business entrances may be closed for short periods to allow crews to pave across them and to allow asphalt to cool
    • Work hours: Tuesday-Thursday 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Business/street entrance pavement and sidewalks may be removed and replaced with gravel. Please use caution when traveling over gravel entrances and watch for gravel where sidewalks have been removed. 
  • Business entrances may be closed one-half at a time or one entrance may be completely closed if more than one entrance exists for a business.  Access will remain OPEN to all businesses.
  • All other work taking place AWAY from traffic during daytime hours 

(Weather or construction delays could alter the work schedule.) 

Project Summary:

  • Add dual left-turn lanes in each direction
  • Widen Route 14 to four lanes with a center turn lane between Fort Avenue and Estes Street
  • Convert West Street to right in/right out only at Route 14
  • Replace traffic signals at intersection of Route 160-13 and Route 14
  • Build new city street between West Street and Route 160-13 south of Route 14
  • Build new sidewalks
  • Install storm water drain pipes

Prime Contractor: Hartman and Company, Springfield

Completion Date: Fall 2016

Total Project Cost: $2.76 million.
