Night Work Planned on Route 39 Bridge
Over Table Rock Lake at Shell Knob
Shell Knob, Barry County - Drivers can expect one-lane traffic at night on the Route 39 bridge over Table Rock Lake in Shell Knob Nov. 20-22 for work to smooth the pavement on the bridge, Department of Transportation said.

This will help extend the life of the bridge deck which was replaced in a project completed shortly before Memorial Day 2013.

Contractor crews will work 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Nov. 20-22.

Crews will use a diamond-grinding machine -- featuring a high-speed drum with industrial diamond shards -- to grind the top layer of concrete on the bridge deck and smooth out the ridges that have been causing a bumpy ride.

The process will provide a smoother ride and reduce the impact vehicles make on the concrete joints.

Bad weather and/or construction delays could alter the work schedule.

Prime Contractor: Penhall Company, Anaheim, CA

Construction Cost: $40,000
