Stone/Taney Counties -- The speed limit on a 9-mile long segment of Route 160 between Route 13 north of Reeds Spring and Route 65 north of Branson will be reduced to 50 mph starting Thursday, October 17, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
The reduction is aimed at improving safety along a hilly, curvy section of Route 160 in Stone and Taney counties.
By state law, the new 50 mph speed limit goes into effect when signs are posted.
Following studies of traffic along Route 160, MoDOT decided to lower speed limit from 55 to 50 mph.
