The Diverging Diamond interchange project at Battlefield Road and Route 65 in Springfield receives Best Use of Innovation award.
Over 40 state DOTs submitted 84 nominations in this year’s competition, with 8 state DOTs entering 17 transportation projects for consideration in the MAASTO region. The national America’s Transportation Awards are sponsored by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, the AAA motor club and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and recognize excellence in transportation projects that improve travel safety, reduce roadway congestion and provide more travel options to consumers.
The project to construct a diverging diamond interchange at Battlefield Road and Route 65 was a partnership between MoDOT, the City of Springfield, Greene County, Ozarks Transportation Organization, Jack Henry & Associates, Justice Jewelers and McLean Enterprises, Inc.
