DRIVERS URGED TO SEEK ALTERNATE ROUTES!
Southbound Route 65 lanes are narrowed and shifted slightly to the west or right at the bridge over Springfield Lake located just south of Route 60 in southeast Springfield. The traffic shift is needed as work progresses on a project to widen Route 65 to six lanes and rehabilitate the southbound Springfield Lake bridge. Two lanes will remain OPEN most of the time. The new traffic pattern will cause delays and increased congestion at the Route 60/65 interchange.
The traffic shift also is impacting the eastbound Route 60-to-southbound Route 65 ramp which can backup during heavy travel times.
Drivers are urged to look for other ways to get around the construction project, if possible.
