New Traffic Signal Set to Go Into Full Operation
On Campbell Ave. South of James River Freeway

MoDOT, District 8, Springfield -- A new traffic signal is scheduled to go into full operation after 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 11, at Campbell Avenue (Route 160/13) at El Camino Alto Street south of James River Freeway in Springfield.

The new signal has been placed on flash for a couple of weeks to alert drivers to the upcoming change.

The traffic signal is part of a larger project to help improve traffic flow on South Campbell Avenue (Route 160/13) south of James River Freeway.

The El Camino Alto Street intersection was built 350 feet south of Cardinal Street in an effort to improve traffic flow along busy South Campbell Avenue between Springfield and Nixa.

When the El Camino Alto Street intersection is opened, drivers using Cardinal Street will no longer be able to make left turns onto Campbell Avenue. El Camino Alto Street will carry traffic to the south where the new signal will help drivers turn left to head south on Campbell Avenue.

The new traffic signal and intersection project is a joint project completed by the City of Springfield, Greene County, MoDOT and a private developer.

The prime contractor, Hartman Construction Company of Springfield, has done the work for $550,000.
