Bollinger County

Construction Projects

Route 72 - Apex Paving widening and relocating a curve just west of the Sale Barn in Patton. The contractor will haul dirt from a borrow area across from Meadow Heights School.  Drivers can expect trucks entering and leaving the area daily as work continues on the relocation.  Traffic in this area will also be reduced to one lane, so motorists should expect some delays.

Butler County

Construction Projects

Route O - As Route 67 lane improvements continue in Butler County, equipment will be crossing Route O off of Route 67.  Weather permitting, the equipment crossings are expected take place Friday, Oct. 3 through Thursday, Oct. 9, excluding the weekend. Traffic through the work zone will be flagger controlled.  When equipment is crossing, travelers can expect up to fifteen-minute delays between the hours of 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily. 

Route 53--Route 53 will be reduced to one lane from Route 51 in Butler County to Route 62 in Dunklin County.  Lake Asphalt Paving & Construction is resurfacing and adding shoulders from Qulin to Campbell. A vehicle marked "Pilot Car" will lead traffic thru the one lane work zone.  If you approach Route 53 from a side road, please wait until the "Pilot Car" passes in your direction before entering the roadway.

Route 60 - Eastbound and Westbound Route 60 will be reduced to one lane, weather permitting.  The lane closure will be from Route DD at Fisk to Route 51 while a contractor hired by MoDOT performs shoulder work as part of the new interchange construction.

Route M in Butler County will be closed while MoDOT crews replace a pipe beneath the roadway. 

Route M will be closed one half mile east and west of County Road 459.  Weather permitting, the repairs will take place Wednesday, Oct. 8 from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Cape Girardeau County

Construction Projects

Route 72 Apex will continue to install driveway pipes in Cape Girardeau County. Driveway pipe installation in Bollinger County should be completed this week.  Drivers can expect trucks entering and leaving the roadway daily as shoulder work will continue in both Bollinger and Cape County. Traffic in these areas will be reduced to one lane from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. so motorists should expect some delays. Completion is expected in summer 2009. Route 72 will also be reduced to one lane starting next Monday, Sept. 29 in various locations, weather permitting, from Route 51 at Patton to the Route 34/72 intersection in Jackson. A contractor will be paving shoulders daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. as part of the Route 72 corridor improvements in Madison, Bollinger and Cape Girardeau Counties.  Delays of 10-15 minutes are likely.

Route 34/72 - County Road 328 will remain closed for the next couple of months while the contractor is placing new concrete pavement. Route 34 will be reduced to one lane from County Road 335 to the Route 34/72 intersection for concrete paving.  Lane reductions are in place at the Route 34/72 intersection while paving is underway.  Concrete pavement construction resumes Monday, Sept. 22, weather permitting.  Gaines Construction will be pouring concrete at approximately 7 a.m.  Traffic will be reduced to one lane with delays expected.  Work will continue through Tuesday.  Work will then focus on preparing to move eastbound traffic to the new concrete pavement starting just east of the Cane Creek Bridge to County Road 335, where the four-lane project was completed last year.  Traffic is expected to be shifted near the end of this month.  Westbound traffic will not be affected at this time.  MoDOT again encourages drivers to take alternate routes, carpool or avoid peak travel times (between 6 and 8 a.m. and 3 and 6 p.m.) if possible to lessen those impacts. Work should be complete by the end of the year.

Southbound I-55 traffic will be reduced to one lane from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. as a contractor hired by MoDOT starts shoulder work to install guardcable. The guardcable installation will be a moving operation from Exit 111 at Oak Ridge to Route 60 at Sikeston and should wrap up late this summer.

Dunklin County

Construction Projects

Route 53 - Route 53 will be reduced to one lane from Route 51 in Butler County to Route 62 in Dunklin County.  Lake Asphalt Paving & Construction is resurfacing and adding shoulders from Qulin to Campbell. Work is underway to install traffic signals at Route 25/Russell Street in Kennett.  During construction Route 25 will be reduced from four lanes of traffic to two both day and night.  The locations will vary as construction progresses, but one lane will be open in each direction while the improvements are made.  Russell Street will be closed at the intersection on both sides of Route 25 for about a month.  Project completion is expected this fall.

Madison County

Construction Projects

Route 67--A contractor hired by MoDOT is working on Route 67 to construct additional lanes for the upgrade to four lanes in Madison, Wayne and Butler Counties.  Currently most of the activity is grading work from Route E to the Wayne County line. Drivers should be cautious of trucks entering and leaving the roadway. The work is expected to be completed in late 2010.

Route 67 from County Road 412 to County Road 411 will be reduced to one lane starting Tuesday, Sept. 2, as work progresses on the Route 67 four-lane improvements in Madison County.  Excavation will take place to the east of existing Route 67 and must be hauled to the west of the existing highway to build the embankment for the new lanes.  Drivers can expect possible five-minute delays at the flagger-controlled work zone from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.  The equipment crossing is expected to be in place through the end of October.

Route 72 from the Highway 67 East Outer Road to Kingsbury Boulevard will be reduced to one lane as Bross Construction starts shoulder work.  Traffic will be reduced to one lane between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily with both east and westbound lanes affected at various times with lane closures.  The project is the first phase of relocating Route 72 north of its current intersection with Route OO and constructing a roundabout at Fredericktown.  Completion is expected in fall 2008.

Route 72 traffic at Fredericktown will be shifted to the north of the existing lanes and through the center of the new roundabout construction.  The traffic switch is necessary as work continues on the roundabout to construct the southern portion where traffic has been flowing.  Motorists may expect reduced speeds through the work zone and are urged to use caution as workers and equipment may be working close to the travel lanes.

County Road 402 in Madison County will be closed to thru traffic from Route 67 starting Wednesday, July 30, at 7 a.m., weather permitting. County Road 402 is located just north of the intersection of Route A and Route 67.  The closure is necessary as grading to build the new lanes of Route 67 progresses from just south of Fredericktown to the Madison/Wayne County line.

New Madrid County

Construction Projects

A portion of westbound Route 60 in New Madrid, Scott and Stoddard Counties will be reduced to one lane starting Monday, Sept. 22, weather permitting.  A contractor will be resurfacing from the Route 60/114 intersection to the Route 60/I-55 interchange.  The lane closure will be in place daily from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. until November.               

Roadway Maintenance

Route W in New Madrid County will be reduced to one lane with a ten foot width restriction while Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs.  This section of roadway is located from County Road 621 to County Road 623 near Kewanee.  Weather permitting, the work will take place Tuesday, Oct. 7 from 8:00 a.m. to noon.

Route AE in New Madrid County will be reduced to one lane with a 10 foot width restriction while MoDOT crews perform pavement repairs.  This section of roadway is located from Route W to Route HH.  Weather permitting, the work will take place Tuesday, Oct. 7 from noon to 4:00 p.m.

Route 61 in New Madrid County will be reduced to one lane with a 12 foot width restriction while MoDOT crews grind the roadway to make a smoother driving surface.  

This section of roadway is located from County Road 324 to Route 162.

Weather permitting, the work will take place Monday, Oct. 6 thru Thursday, Oct. 16 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.

Pemiscot County

Roadway Maintenance

Route O in Pemiscot County will be reduced to one lane while MoDOT crews continues to perform routine bridge repairs.  This section of roadway is located from County Road 561 to Route 61.Weather permitting, traffic will be reduced to one lane Wednesday, Oct. 1 thru Monday, Oct. 6 from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily.

Route O in Pemiscot County will be closed while MoDOT crews continue to perform routine bridge repairs.  This section of roadway is located from one mile east of Interstate 55 to County Road 569.  Route O will be closed today, Monday, Oct. 6 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Tuesday, Oct. 7 thru Thursday, Oct. 9 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily.

Scott County

Construction Projects

Southbound I-55 traffic will be reduced to one lane from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. as a contractor hired by MoDOT starts shoulder work to install guardcable. The guardcable installation will be a moving operation from Exit 111 at Oak Ridge to Route 60 at Sikeston and should wrap up in mid-August. A portion of northbound I-55 will also be reduced to one lane from Benton to the Route H overpass north of Sikeston from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. through July 25, weather permitting, as the moving operation progresses.

A portion of westbound Route 60 in New Madrid, Scott and Stoddard Counties will be reduced to one lane starting Monday, Sept. 22, weather permitting.  A contractor will be resurfacing from the Route 60/114 intersection to the Route 60/I-55 interchange.  The lane closure will be in place daily from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. until November.

Interstate 55 in Scott County will be reduced to one lane while crews patch the roadway and make shoulder repairs.  The work will be performed in the southbound lanes from Route AB to Route M at Scott City.  Weather permitting, the work will take place Monday, Oct. 6 and Tuesday, Oct. 7 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily.

St. Francois County

Construction Projects

Route 67--Work is underway to construct the Old Orchard/Route 67 interchange at Bonne Terre.  The work is scheduled for completion in fall 2009. Drivers should be cautious of trucks entering and leaving the roadway. Temporary median crossovers are expected to be open next week with southbound Route 67 traffic moved to the northbound lanes at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23, weather permitting. 

Northbound Route 67 will be reduced to one lane with two lanes available for southbound traffic between Stormy Lane and the Route 47 Interchange at Bonne Terre.  Traffic signals at Orchard Road will still be in operation.  The change to traffic is necessary as excavation and bridge work begins across the southbound lanes for the new underpass at Orchard Road for the new interchange.  Traffic is expected to be on the northbound lanes for about six weeks and then all traffic will be switched to the southbound lanes as excavation and bridge work takes place across the northbound lanes.  That work is also tentatively scheduled for six weeks, with full four-lane availability resuming late this year, weather permitting. 

Route 221 will be reduced to one lane on the bridge over the St. Francis River, approximately 1 mile south of Farmington on Route 221 for bridge repairs.  Temporary traffic signals, barrels and work zone signing will be in place around the clock to direct traffic through the work area. Motorists should expect delays of 5 to 10 minutes throughout the duration of the lane closure.

Ste. Genevieve County

Northbound Interstate 55 in Ste. Genevieve County will be reduced to one lane with a 16 foot restriction while MoDOT crews perform concrete repairs. This section of roadway is located from Rt. DD and OO exit north 3 miles to the Jefferson County Line. Weather permitting, the work will take place Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 7:30 a.m. and will reopen at approximately 4:00 p.m.Wednesday, Oct. 8.

Interstate 55 in Ste. Genevieve County will be reduced to one lane while MoDOT crews perform concrete repairs.  The repairs will be made in the northbound lanes from Route O to four miles north near Bloomsdale.  Weather permitting, the repairs will be made today, Oct. 1 beginning at 7:30 a.m. and will reopen at approximately 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8.

Stoddard County

Construction Projects

Route 60 - Eastbound and Westbound Route 60 will be reduced to one lane, weather permitting.  The lane closure will be from Route DD at Fisk to Route 51 while a contractor hired by MoDOT performs shoulder work as part of the new interchange construction.  Wednesday, Sept. 17 and Thursday, Sept. 18, drivers on Route 60 from Route DD to Route 51 in Stoddard County should expect evening delays as the contractor begins setting the bridge girders for the new overpass. From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. each evening, eastbound Route 60 traffic will be stopped periodically for 15-minutes while the girders are set over the roadway.

Route 60 - Eastbound traffic on Route 60 in Stoddard County will be reduced to one lane as contractors perform paving work. The lane closure will begin one mile east of Route 25 and continue one mile west of Route 25, with a width restriction of 16 feet.  Weather permitting, the work will take place Monday, Oct. 6 to Friday, Oct. 10 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, including weekends.

Wayne County

Construction Projects

Route 67 lane improvements continue in Wayne County. Beginning September 2, equipment will be crossing Route 172 near the intersection of Route 67. Once this work is completed, the crossing will move to US67 near the intersection of new Route 49 and last approximately 2 weeks.

An equipment crossing will be in place on Route 67 approximately one-fourth mile north of Route A. Traffic will be controlled by a new set of traffic signals installed on Route 67. Weather permitting, drivers should see the signals and the equipment crossing on Tuesday, Sept. 2, and continue in this area until the end of the year. Travelers should expect up to six-minute delays between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily, including weekends. 

Route 67 – Robertson Contractors Inc. is nearing completion of the new four-lane bridge over Lake Wappapello south of Greenville. Completion is expected later this fall.

Route 67 – Bross Construction resurfacing and installing guardrail. Traffic reduced to one lane in various locations daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Cherokee Pass in Madison County to the Butler County line. Completion expected in late summer 2008.
