Access to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer’s campground at Old Greenville will change as the Missouri Department of Transportation works to expand Route 67 to a four-lane facility.
Currently, the campground entrance is located to the west side of Route 67. However, the new entrance and access road will be located to the east side. Traffic will begin to shift to the new access road the week of July 13, weather permitting. The work will occur in three stages.
First, a portion of the new access road will be opened to traffic. Only those wishing to access the boat ramp should use the open portion of the new access road at this time. Others should continue to use the existing route to access Old Greenville campground.
Next, MoDOT’s contractor will begin removing portions of the existing access road under the Lake Wappapello Bridge. During this stage, the new access road will remain closed, except for boat ramp traffic. The new access road will be connected to the existing access road, allowing for access to both the campground and boat ramp.
Lastly, the existing access road located to the west side of Route 67 will be permanently closed. All traffic will then shift to utilize the new access road and entrance.
Work zones will be marked with signs as the improvements are being made. Drivers are urged to use extreme caution near the work zones and plan for possible delays. MoDOT will alert drivers prior to any change in traffic.
