SIKESTON - The project to improve Interstate 55 in Cape Girardeau and Perry Counties was recently accelerated.  The project is now scheduled to be let in December 2009.

This overlay project includes improvements to the northbound lanes from the Route 61 interchange at Fruitland in Cape Girardeau County to the Route B interchange in Perry County. 

If the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awards the project in January 2010, work is expected to begin in spring 2010 with completion anticipated in fall 2010.
