Willow Springs, Mo. - The Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety wants to make sure your family has a safe and happy Halloween this season. It's easy for children to forget to be careful as they celebrate, and they can be more prone to accidents or injuries. 

Follow these simple tips to make sure you and your little goblins have a safe holiday:

• Ensure your children will have an adult with them at all times.
• Know the routes they will be taking.
• Set a time that your children should be home by.
• Make sure your children are wearing something that ensures they will be seen by those driving at night - and that does not restrict their vision. Lights, neon tape and reflective coloring helps.
• Costumes should also be kept short, so children avoid tripping or slipping.
• Costumes should be flame retardant.
• Remind your children to look both ways before crossing the street, and to not get into vehicles of adults they don't know.
• Remind children not to enter any houses they are trick-or-treating at.
• Teach your children to stop at only those homes with lights on.
• Adults attending parties should ensure they have a designated driver.
• Drivers, drive slowly and watch for children.
