The bridge on Cole County Route AA over South Moreau Creek is slated for rehabilitation in 2026. Built in 1965, the supporting structures are in good condition, but the driving surface has deteriorated and needs to be replaced.
The traffic control plans for construction call for closing Route AA with a signed detour.
PROJECT PROGRESS
The Missouri Department of Transportation is in the process of designing a new bridge deck, which will be the same width as the existing structure and include new approach pavement and the installation of new guardrail.
This project is expected to require some new right-of-way acquisition.
The estimated total cost (right of way acquisition, engineering and construction) for this project is $1.26 million. This cost may change.
During the three-week comment period that ran May 27 – June 19, 2025, the community and interested parties had multiple avenues to learn about, ask questions, and submit input regarding the planned work and associated traffic impacts.
- In-person - An open-house style public meeting will be held Tuesday, June 3, 2025, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Russellville Shelter Hall located at 13213 Park Street, Russellville. The project team will be on hand to answer questions, provide information, and receive input about the project. There will be no formal presentation, so attendees may come and go as they please at any time during the advertised hours.

As part of their January 2026 meeting, the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a $755,964.75 contract for this work to E & C Bridge, LLC.
On June 8, construction crews will close the Route AA bridge over South Moreau Creek to all traffic to replace the bridge deck. The bridge is tentatively scheduled to reopen in late August.
During construction, motorists will be directed around the closure via Cole and Moniteau County Route A, Moniteau County Route V, and Cole County Route C.
At this time, the new bridge deck is expected to be complete by Dec. 1, 2026.

Cole County AA, south of Russellville, to close next week
