HANNIBAL - This Thursday, weather permitting, paving will begin to widen Route 47 near Warrior Avenue for the turn lanes. The southbound lane will be closed, so there will be one-lane traffic at Warrior Avenue. "Flaggers and construction signs will direct traffic, and the speed limit will be reduced to 35 mph," explained Kurt Kluesner, senior construction technician with MoDOT. The one-lane restrictions will be during the week only and in the daytime. "Both lanes are expected to be open sometime mid next week, but this will be still be a construction zone," Kluesner said. He added that all improvements will not be utilized until after traffic signals are erected. The project is expected to be complete before Memorial weekend.
The next phase of the project is to add turn lanes to Warrior Avenue. The City of Warrenton, MoDOT and Warren County R-III School District are sharing the cost of the $463,000 project.
