MACON - Due to inclement weather, MoDOT has delayed closing to traffic the bridge over Moniteau Creek on Route W in Howard County at 7:30 a.m. to Tuesday, October 20. The closure, which is part of the Safe & Sound Bridge Program, is necessary to replace a deteriorated bridge deck.
Located near the Moniteau Creek Wildlife Area, the bridge is expected to be reopened Friday, December 11. Motorists must choose alternate routes during the closure. The work is weather dependent and the expected completion date could be delayed or rescheduled. Patience is appreciated during the project.
As part of the Safe & Sound Bridge Program, 800 bridges across the state are scheduled for replacement or rehabilitation within the next five years; most of the bridges will be closed to traffic.
For more information about these bridges and others in the Safe & Sound Program, contact the MoDOT District 2 Customer Service Center toll-free at 1-888-ASK MoDOT (275-6636) or visit our website at http://www.modot.mo.gov/northcentral/safesoundprogram.htm.
