Reminder: Range Line Bridge Slide Set for Saturday

COLUMBIA, Mo. – A new bridge that will carry Interstate 70 over Range Line Street in Columbia will be slid into place tomorrow morning. Here’s a look at the ramp and lane closures that will take place:

Friday, June 3

6 p.m. - Range Line Street at I-70, all I-70 on- and off-ramps at Range Line, and the I-70 eastbound on-ramp at Providence Road will be closed.

8 p.m. - One lane of I-70 in each direction at Range Line will be closed.

Saturday, June 4

5 a.m. - Two westbound lanes of I-70 traffic will be switched to the eastbound Range Line bridge. The eastbound bridge will continue to carry one lane of eastbound traffic, while the other eastbound lane of traffic will be routed down the eastbound off-ramp at Range Line and back up the on-ramp to I-70. The ramp closure and traffic changes will remain in place until 5 a.m. on Monday, June 6. However, Range Line will remain closed until 5 a.m. on Tuesday, June 7.

7 a.m. – The bridge slide will begin.

Noon – The bridge is expected to be in place.

Sunday, June 5

8 p.m. - One lane of I-70 in each direction will be closed as westbound traffic is shifted to the new westbound I-70 bridge at Range Line.

Monday, June 6

5 a.m. - Both eastbound and westbound lanes of I-70 are scheduled to be in their permanent location.

6 a.m. - The eastbound on-ramp at Providence and the eastbound on- and off-ramps at Range Line will reopen.

Tuesday, June 7

5 a.m. Range Line will reopen.

6 a.m. The westbound on- and off-ramps at Range Line will reopen.

In addition, there will be intermittent lane closures on I-70 in each direction at Garth Avenue and Range Line from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday of next week for striping.

Looking ahead, Business Loop and all on- and off-ramps at I-70 and Business Loop, as well as the south outer road (I-70 Drive), will close at 6 p.m. on June 12 for 45 days for construction of a new interchange there. Creasy Springs traffic will still have access to the north outer road (I-70 Drive).
