JEFFERSON CITY - It's not just Soulja Boy teens will be dancing to this spring. Check out the new song and dance sensation: Get Your Buckle On.
Sponsored by the Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety, the Get Your Buckle On educational campaign will encourage teens to visit getyourbuckleon.com and submit a seatbelt dance reminding teens to click it.
"Spring is an ideal time to reach teens as they prepare for milestones in their life, such as prom and graduation," said Leanna Depue, chair of the executive committee of the Coalition. "The campaign takes the simple act of buckling up and makes it interactive."
Seatbelt usage is extremely low among teenagers at only 62 percent. Between 2005-2007, eight out of ten teens killed in traffic crashes were not wearing a seat belt.
Internet, cable, radio and convenience store advertising begins March 9 and runs through the month of March; increased enforcement begins March 15.
