EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The public is invited to offer comments on plans to replace the Route 10 Bridge over the Fishing River East Fork and the Route 10 Bridge over Marietta Street in Excelsior Springs. The Missouri Department of Transportation and the City of Excelsior Springs will host a preliminary design public hearing from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20 at the Hall of Waters Council Room, 201 E. Broadway in Excelsior Springs to gather public input regarding the bridge replacements.
This open-house style hearing will share with the public preliminary plans to replace the 80-year-old bridges with smoother, safer structures. The bridge over Marietta Street will be reconstructed with a higher vertical clearance. The project will also build a sidewalk on the south side of Route 10 between the two bridges. MoDOT is working with the City of Excelsior Springs to create a proposed enhancement package to meet the goals of the community.
Anyone interested is encouraged to drop by the meeting anytime during the posted hours to talk to MoDOT engineers and offer comments. Those unable to attend can view the displays and offer comments through an online public meeting at www.modot.org/kansascity beginning February 20. Comments will be accepted through March 6.
