KANSAS CITY - Repair of the westbound middle lane of the Manchester Bridge will restrict traffic on I-70 near the Truman Sports Complex this weekend.
Both the left and center lanes of westbound I-70 on Manchester Bridge will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday, March 29, to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 30 for deck repair. The ramp from Manchester Trafficway to westbound I-70 also will close during this time. The center lane of westbound I-70 will be closed from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday for bridge deck repair.
The repairs are part of a recurring concern on the Manchester Bridges, which were built in 1959. Two weeks ago workers repaired more than 1,000 square feet of deck on the eastbound side, including 25 holes through the deck totaling 280 square feet.
Last month MoDOT selected four finalists to compete for a design/build contract to replace the 2,400-foot-long bridge. MoDOT expects to award a contract in July for the bridge replacement project.
