Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Precedes Opening of Route 13 North Leg

WARRENSBURG - A ribbon cutting ceremony beginning 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 14, near Route 13 and Route HH will precede the anticipated opening later that day of the Route 13 North Leg.

The new north leg extends the last five miles of the 11-mile-long Route 13 East Loop around Warrensburg. Emery Sapp & Sons is the general contractor for the $10,126,672 project. Thanks to the contractor's diligence and great weather for construction, the new highway segment opens nearly eight months ahead of schedule.

The final segment completes a long-planned realignment of the main highway route. It ties in the north leg several miles north of Route 50 so that through traffic avoids stop-and-go congestion in downtown Warrensburg. The new route is a two-lane highway built on enough right of way to someday expand to four lanes, when traffic volume requires it. The new segment continues northward from the portion completed in 2010 at Route HH north of Route 50 to a point of existing Route 13 just south of the intersection with Routes V and OO.

State, county and local officials, representatives from the Missouri Highway 13 Corridor Coalition and the Pioneer Trails Rural Planning Committee will cut the ribbon for the new highway near the Route HH intersection, then continue the ceremony at the White Rose Pavilion, 107 Ming Street, in conjunction with the regularly scheduled Coalition meeting.
