KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Northbound traffic on Interstate 29/35 will be shifted to the southbound lanes starting Thursday, November 5. Interstate traffic will be moved to inside lanes to run head-to-head alongside of southbound traffic, north of Independence Avenue to the Paseo Boulevard ramp exit, so work may begin on the new Paseo Boulevard ramp exit. The posted speed limit will be reduced to 45 mph through this area. This traffic configuration will be in effect until mid-2010.
The Paseo Boulevard ramp bridge will be demolished and rebuilt, with new, right-side merge access for northbound motorists to enter the flow of interstate traffic. The old ramp bridge demolition will begin in the next few weeks. Grading work will start immediately in the area. kcICON Project officials continue to ask motorists to take other routes and consider alternative modes of transportation, when possible.
All Construction activities are weather dependent and subject to change. Updated lane closure information for the kcICON Project can be found on the project's Web site at http://www.kcicon.com/ or by calling the information hotline at 816-841-8888.
