Route 150 Widening - Project Overview

Route 71 to Route 291

Length:   8.33 miles

Cost:                  $33 million construction

                            $3 million right of way

                            $4 million utilities, etc.

Construction will be accomplished in three phases, beginning with the western segment, because MoDOT already has acquired the right of way and easements at that end.

  • Phase one, from just east of Route 71 to just west of Lumpkins Fork Creek, is now under contract to Clarkson Construction Co.
  • Contracts for the second and third phases may be let simultaneously, if that proves beneficial. Phase two connects on the west end with phase one, extending east to Horridge Road.
  • Phase three goes from Horridge Road to west of Route 291.

Anticipated Schedule:

Right of way acquisition: scheduled to begin mid-2007 and be completed in 2009.

Begin construction phase one: September 2008

Begin construction phases two and three: 2009-10

Completion: winter 2010-11

This project is being funded in part by money made available by the passage of Amendment 3 in November 2004.

This project is part of a series of projects to improve Missouri’s highways in the southern Jackson and northern Cass county area. Among those projects:

  • Route 150 -- from Route 71 to Kansas state line completed May ’03, Route D to State Line completed October ’01 for $43.8 million, 5.33 million in right of way costs.
  • Triangle project – begun in 2001 and scheduled for completion in 2008.
  • Resurfacing of Route 71 – north of Route 291 to Blue Ridge Boulevard, including bridge rehabilitation in northern Cass County in 2004.
  • Reconstruction of Route 291 from Cass County to Route 50 in Lee’s Summit, including a new interchange at Route 150, completed in 2004.
  • Bridge replacement of Route 150 in Greenwood, scheduled to be complete in Nov. 2008.
  • Reconstruction of Route 58 from east of Raymore to Route D – last phase opened late 2005.
  • Reconstruction of the Route 71 and Route Y interchange – scheduled to start in Sept. 2008, complete by early 2010.
  • Construction of a new interchange on Route 71 approximately two miles south of Route 58 – scheduled for construction in fall 2008, complete by early 2010.
  • Resurfacing and bridge rehabilitation on I-470 from the 3-Trails Crossing to Route 291.
