JEFFERSON CITY - The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded several mid-Missouri area transportation improvement projects at its Feb. 6 meeting in Jefferson City.Jefferson Asphalt Co. was awarded a contract to overlay approximately eight miles of Route M from Route B to Route 50 in Cole County and six miles of Route E from Route 63 to Route 89 in Osage County. The contractor submitted the lowest bid of $708,670. The work will be done during the 2013 construction season. A project to overlay approximately 29 miles of Route 87 in Cooper and Moniteau counties was also awarded during the commission meeting. APAC-Missouri, Inc. of Columbia, Mo. was awarded the project with a low bid of $3.8 million. Another contract was awarded for work on the Osage River Bridge on Route B in Cole County. The bridge, north of St. Thomas, will be repaired by Lehman Construction, L.L.C. of California, Mo, which was awarded the contract after submitting the lowest bid of $2.8 million. The work will be done during the 2013 construction season. The bridges over the Lamine River and Union Pacific railroad four miles west of Syracuse will be repaired this summer under a contract awarded to APAC-Missouri, Inc. of Columbia. The contractor submitted the lowest bid of $1.7 million. APAC will also repair the Osage River Bridge on westbound Route 54 near Lake Ozark after submitting the lowest bid of $834,561.
