Project Cost Estimation with Estimate 2000

ESTIMATE 2000 FOR WINDOWS 95/98/2000/NT/XP

Estimate 2000 allows the user to develop itemized cost estimates for MoDOT projects. The program follows procedures outlined in the Project Development Manual (PDM), and calculates cost estimates based on historical bid information and user supplied information. The costs are then summarized by Section categories and by Project Initialization categories.

Disclaimer

It should be noted that Estimate 2000 is merely a tool to assist in project cost estimation and is not intended as a replacement for sound engineering judgment. An incorrect analysis can easily result from inappropriate input or from a misunderstanding of the program's function.

Prices given in Estimate 2000 should always be verified.  Not every item in the Estimate Database has an average price associated with it, because not all items receive numerous bids, and some items are new.  We continually try to update this database as often as possible when new prices are available.

Instructions

1.  The following link includes all the files needed to install Estimate 2000.  You can download the archive to any location on your PC (the self-extracting archive will place all files in the correct location when it's run).  This self-extracting archive is set to automatically begin the installation process when launched.

Estimate Install Archive

2.  Once downloaded, double-click the .exe archive file to run it.  The resulting process will install the Estimate program to the C:\Program Files\Estimate directory.  This directory structure is automatically created when the file is run.

3.  The executable used to access the Estimate program is developed separately and is not copied during the installation process.  This file is included in the following archive.  The newest database for the User Item List is also included in this archive.  Once you have downloaded this file, simply launch it and it will automatically place the executable and the database in the correct location on your hard drive.
