Howard County U.S. Route 40 Bridge Deck Replacement (Bonne Femme Creek)

Below are details, resources and news about the deck replacement of the U.S. Route 40 bridge over Bonne Femme Creek in Howard County, located southeast of New Franklin. The existing 73 year-old bridge carries approximately 2,100 vehicles per day. The repairs are necessary to improve the condition of the bridge and extend the life of the structure by 30 years.

This project is expected to take place in  2023.




Cost: 

The contracted cost is 
$6,952,040. This contract also includes the replacement of the U.S. Route 40 bridge over Salt Creek and bridge deck replacement on Cooper County Route F over Stephens Branch.  



Work Taking Place

Crews will replace the bridge deck. 




Traffic Impact:  

U.S. Route 40 will be closed at the bridge during construction.

Bid Awarded

On January 5, 2022, the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded the contract to Lehman Construction, which provided a low bid of $6,952,040. This contract also includes the replacement of the U.S. Route 40 bridge over Salt Creek and bridge deck replacement on Cooper County Route F over Stephens Branch.
