MoDOT Plan Has Directed $177 Million to Highway Projects

MoDOT’s plan to reduce staffing, facilities and equipment has resulted in $177 million being redirected to critical road and bridge projects in Missouri.  As of Sept. 30, the department had eliminated 667 staff positions, closed 23 facilities and disposed of 245 pieces of equipment under its Bolder Five-Year Direction.  Direction

Interstate 29 Now Open

Interstate 29 from Rock Port, Mo., (exit 110) to U.S. Highway 34 (exit 32) near Pacific Junction, Iowa, opened Saturday to traffic after almost four months of closure due to flooding. MoDOT to Test Smog-Eating Concrete

MoDOT is testing a new type of concrete that’s designed to absorb smog.  On Oct. 19, crews will place the smog-eating concrete on a 1,500-foot section of Route 141 in St. Louis.  An additive in the concrete uses sunlight to break down smog and releases it as nitrogen and carbon dioxide.  Smog
