Department Receives Awards for Efficiency, Innovation Replacing low-water stream crossings with structures that allow passage of aquatic life and reducing staff time and mileage on inspecting outdoor advertising permits have earned MoDOT two national awards. Awards MoDOT Says "Go Tiger!" Although the Missouri Tigers deserve some well-earned accolades, in this case MoDOT recently submitted an application for a TIGER Discretionary Grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The program is giving states and local entities the opportunity to compete for $1.5 billion in stimulus funds to enable transportation projects that otherwise were not possible. TIGER Mississippi River Bridge Advertisement and Bid Opening Moved Responding to public concerns, MoDOT recently announced that the dates to advertise and open bids on the new Mississippi River Bridge in St. Louis have been moved. Bid Missouri is More Bike Friendly MoDOT works hard to factor bicycle and pedestrian travel into its highway projects, and has made a lot of headway making state roads and bridges user-friendly for bicyclists and pedestrians. In fact, the League of American Bicyclists recently ranked Missouri as the 17th most bike-friendly state in the nation, an 11-spot jump from last year.
